Ex- Physician Faces Assault Charges Against Thirty-Eight Individuals in His Care
Prosecutors have stated that a ex- physician has been charged with committing sexual assaults against thirty-eight individuals who were under his care.
The Grave Charges
Nathaniel Spencer from Birmingham has been charged with numerous acts of sexual assault – including some against minors under the age of thirteen – spanning the period from 2017 and 2021.
One senior CPS official said, “Legal teams have diligently worked to support a detailed and complex investigation, carefully reviewing the evidence to determine that there is sufficient evidence to proceed to trial and that it is in the public interest.”
The Investigation
The charges follow what police called a “detailed inquiry” into alleged assaults at medical facilities: the Royal Stoke university hospital and a facility in Dudley.
Spencer is due to appear at the North Staffordshire justice centre on 20 January.
Breakdown of Offences
The charging documents outline the 45 sexual offences he is charged with:
- 15 counts of assault.
- Seventeen counts of assault by penetration.
- Nine counts of sexual assault of a child under 13.
- Three counts of penetrative assault on a child under thirteen.
- 1 count of attempting to assault by penetration.
