Recent details have emerged about the shocking deaths of esteemed filmmaker Rob Reiner and visual artist Michele Singer Reiner, whose bodies were located at their Brentwood, Los Angeles residence on Sunday.

The Discovery

According to a report citing a confidential source, a therapist arriving for an appointment was the first to notice something was wrong after not being able to enter the home. The therapist then contacted the couple's daughter, Romy Reiner, who resides nearby.

After gaining access to the house, Romy found her father's body. Accounts indicate she then exited the property overwhelmed with grief, unaware at that moment that her mother's body was there as well. Her roommate who had accompanied her promptly called 911. Afterward, paramedics located Michele Singer Reiner's body.

Legal Charges

Law enforcement have formally accused the couple's 32-year-old son, Nick Reiner, with two counts of premeditated murder, along with the charge related to a weapon, said to be a knife. He is now in custody and is ineligible for bail.

Disputed Reports

The person close to the family challenged several previously reported details. They said that while Romy Reiner told emergency responders that her brother Nick resided in a detached unit on the estate, she did not identify him as a suspect at that juncture.

Furthermore pushed back against circulated suggestions that Rob and Michele Singer Reiner had been unusually "concerned" about Nick's conduct in the preceding period. The source claimed the family was "familiar with working through [Nick's] problems together."

This correction includes descriptions of alleged "unstable" conduct by Nick at a event held by Conan O'Brien the evening prior to the tragedy. While the source noted they were unable to confirm whether Rob had "rebuked" his son at the party, they said that reports of a "heated argument" between the two were inaccurate.

Ongoing Inquiry Timeline

As stated by law enforcement officials, the coroner had still not confirmed as of Tuesday whether the Reiners died late on Saturday or on Sunday. Some media reports suggested the state of their bodies implied they had been deceased for a period of time.

Nick Reiner was apprehended at approximately 9:30 p.m. on Sunday in the Exposition Park area, some 15 miles from the scene. He was scheduled to have a hearing on Tuesday, but his attorney, Alan Jackson, stated his client had not been medically cleared and would be unable to attend until Wednesday or later.
