Iran Reports Attack on American Facility in the Kingdom of Bahrain, As Part of Regional Military Operations.
Iran's military claims to have hit a American military facility in Bahrain, as Iran launched operations throughout the Middle East in retaliation for a "massive" and continuing attack targeting the nation by the US and Israel.
Huge plumes of black smoke were seen rising from an zone in the area of the command center of the American Fifth Fleet in Bahrain's capital, Manama. The extent of any destruction is uncertain and the United States has yet to issue a statement.
Regional Interceptions
In other parts of the Middle East, the UAE, Qatar and the State of Kuwait - each hosting US military bases - reported they have intercepted missiles in their airspace.
In Doha, the Qatari Ministry of Defence announced it had intercepted several missiles apparently targeting the al-Udeid air base, the largest American base in the region.
IRGC Statement
Iran's Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) said in a statement it was attacking American facilities and interests as part of military campaign "Truthful Promise 4", in reprisal for the strikes on the Islamic Republic initiated by the US and Israel on Saturday.
That initial attack - initiated at approximately 09:15 Iran time - has so far focused on areas linked to the Tehran's leadership, with President Trump encouraging the Iranian people to rise up against the government.
Wider Impacts
In Israel, sirens were heard across the country after the Israel Defense Forces reported it had identified an incoming Iranian missile barrage.
The Ministry of Defence of the United Arab Emirates said in a statement that the nation has been targeted by a "a blatant attack involving Iranian ballistic missiles".
"UAE air defence systems responded to the missiles with notable success and successfully intercepted a several projectiles," the statement continued.
Officials reported missile fragments landed in a neighborhood in Abu Dhabi, resulting in some material damage and fatalities.
The US Air Force is stationed at the Al Dhafra base, south of Abu Dhabi, along with the Emirati Air Force.
