Outrage as Popular South African DJ Gunned Down in Johannesburg.
A prominent South African media personality and entertainer has been murdered in the metropolis of Johannesburg, causing national outrage across a country grappling with entrenched crime.
Warrick Stock, popularly known as DJ Warras, was shot and killed in the downtown area on Tuesday afternoon.
Officials stated the 40-year-old presenter was accosted by three suspects, with one shot at him before escaping on foot.
The motive behind the attack has not been established and no suspects have been apprehended are in custody, as per the official statement.
How It Happened
Authorities revealed that Stock was attacked as he was leaving a location in the vicinity of the Carlton Centre.
He had spent several hours at the property overseeing the installation of security systems, which had been illegally inhabited by squatters, as per local media.
"It is alleged the man was confronted by three unknown suspects after parking his vehicle, and they shot at him before fleeing the scene on foot," a police statement stated.
CCTV footage showed a individual with dreadlocks and clad in what resembled a protective services outfit firing shots on Stock before running away.
The DJ attempted to flee after he was shot but collapsed on the opposite side of the road.
Officials noted that Stock had an gun that was not fired and no items were stolen during the assault.
