The second-hand marketplace Members Share Frustration Regarding Size Changes
Shoppers are voicing their frustration after an update resulted in items being listed as the wrong size.
The popular resale platform has revised its sizing categories for women's and children's clothes failing to inform all shoppers about the modification.
Digital Channels Response
Countless users and merchants are posting online saying Vinted listings now show a modified sizing category versus the original listing as a result of the reclassification.
Vinted explained the updated approach better aligns with comparable marketplaces.
They have suggested members to review their products and manually change the size if necessary, resulting in member annoyance.
Size Classification Changes
Previously, the sizes had both a single numeric size and a letter, for instance S/8 or M/10.
The new system has an alphabetical indicator and numerical range such as S/UK 8-10.
With some products, the size labels have been reassigned - such as a large size used to be a 12 but is now a UK 16-18.
User Accounts
One content creator, who produces content about larger sizing, said the change "makes both selling and buying harder".
"Rarely do manufacturers list XL as sizes 20-22," which is what Vinted now does.
A different member, located in Scotland, stated items she posted with size 14 tags were showing in the marketplace as larger sizing 20-22.
"If anyone [who is] size 20-22 buys them they're going to be very disappointed," she stated.
Manual Updates
A different user, from Derby, stated she felt frustrated because the modification necessitated personal updates the sizing for "all her products".
"This situation is especially annoying, as I'm chronically ill and selling on Vinted has been paramount for me since losing part of my income," she explained.
Platform Context
The service features exceeding 100 million shoppers, comprising 18 million UK members.
It has become a favored option compared to resale services such as eBay and Depop.
This is not the initial instance that an unexpected update on the platform has faced criticism: previously, the platform withdrew an update to its shipping options following member complaints.
